Minister for Sport Visits Rathcoole, Clondalkin and Lucan
Cllr. Emer Higgins and Deputy Frances Fitzgerald welcomed Minister for Sport, Brendan Griffin, to four local sports clubs this week. The Minister’s whistlestop tour took him to Rathcoole Boys FC where he saw their progress on their new all-weather pitch, Round Towers GAA Club and their proposed site next to Gaelscoil Chluain Dolcain, Lucan Sarsfield GAA Club and the long-awaited running track at Lucan Harriers Athletic Club; which is finally back on track.
“It was great to welcome Minister Griffin to our constituency and showcase some of the fantastic local clubs we have in Rathcoole, Lucan and Clondalkin. The Minister’s Department has provided thousands of euro in funding to each of these clubs, and every cent has been well invested. All our sports clubs are all built on volunteerism and provide hundreds of children, young people and families with an outlet that encourages wellness and community engagement. We’re extremely lucky to have such excellent clubs and I’ll continue to work with Deputy Frances Fitzgerald and Councilors Kenneth Egan, Vicki Casserly and William Lavelle to support all our local clubs,” said Cllr. Emer Higgins.
