Multiple Sclerosis Ireland is on the road #MS Understood

Multiple Sclerosis Ireland is the only national organization providing information, support and advocacy services to the MS community. They work with people with MS, their families and health professionals. With the MS understood Cafe Roadshow, MS Ireland aims to communicate and raise awareness about the disease while drinking a café or tea.
What is Multiple Sclerosis? This is a disease of the brain and spinal cord (central nervous system). The central nervous system acts like a switchboard sending electrical messages along the nerves to various parts of the body. These electrical messages instruct the body to perform various tasks, such as movement or thought. In MS, the myelin breaks down or becomes scarred. This distorts or even blocks the flow of messages, resulting in the many symptoms of MS.
“This morning I stopped by the Ms café bus parked in Clondalkin. It was great to have a coffee and experience some of the everyday obstacles people living with MS. It was weird to feel the floor spongy under my feet and the fuzzy writing of the menu table” said Cllr Higgins”
"Check out their website www.ms-society.ie or call the Information Line:1850 233233for any information you might need and the details of where they will be next week #MSunderstood” said Cllr Emer Higgins
