Griffeen Valley Park Run Launch Juvenile Run

Griffeen Valley Park Run held its first juvenile run this weekend. The sun shone for the occasion which saw hundreds of children take on a 2k track around the park. The run was supported by local Councillors Vicki Casserly, Emer Higgins and Liona O’Toole.

“It was great to see so many families out soaking up the sunshine at the first ever juvenile Griffeen Valley Park Run. The Park Run’s are a fantastic, volunteer-led, initiative that help promote wellness, fitness and provide a social outlet for local residents. It’s brilliant to see them bringing all those benefits to the lives of children. Well done to all the kiddies who took part in the event, I’m sure we’ve many successful runners-to-be amongst them but we all know, when it comes to running, it’s the taking part that counts,” said Cllr. Emer Higgins who is a General Election Candidate for the area.

“I look out on Griffeen Valley Park from my house and I’m always pleased to see events taking place there. It’s a fantastic public amenity. I’m a beginner runner myself training with Lucan Harriers FitForLife, and my son James and husband Dan are marathon runners, so I know the benefits of running. It’s brilliant to see kids getting involved, if they start early it will help us create a culture of wellness amongst the next generation,” said Cllr. Vicki Casserly who represents the Lucan area.
