Fine Gael Councillor, Emer Higgins, donned a Commercials GAA kit to take to the stage as Sporty Spice for the Lip Sync Together fundraiser for St Mary’s and Commercial GAA clubs’. “I am no Spice Girl and when I was asked by Brendan Murray to take on the role of one I was pretty apprehensive; but when he told me I’d be the only girl in the group I was terrified,” confessed Cllr. Members of the African community hosted a celebration of diversity, song, dance and fashion to mark World Sickle Cell Day. The event, which took place in Luttreslstown, was addressed by Deputy Jack Chambers and Cllr. Emer Higgins who lent their support to the #SickleCellMatters campaign. “I was delighted to attend the World Sickle Cell Day celebrations to help raise awareness of the anaemia. 300K Have Your Say Winners Announced 9:31 AM | Posted by Emer Higgins | €300,000 has been awarded to fund 15 projects in Clondalkin and Rathcoole, all nominated and voted on by the local communities. The 2018 Community Participation Budget of €300,000 was awarded to the Clondalkin electoral area after it was drawn at random from a hat by the County’s Mayor. The initiative offered members of the public the opportunity to have their say on how this money should be spent within their community. 230 nominations were made and nominations were shortlisted into 24 projects which were then put out to public vote. Rathcoole’s Garden Fete another Huge Success

The sun was shining again this year for the Garden Fete in aid of the Four Districts Day Care Centre. It was great to see so many people out supporting the fundraiser and enjoying the sunshine. This year’s event was bigger than ever with a choo-choo train, a chill out kids zone, bouncy castles, a carousel, BBQ and pop-up stalls. Local musicians, the RAMs in Rhythm and the Kangoo jumpers entertained the crowds. Huge congrats to Neville, Christy and their team who put together a fantastic family day out in aid of a great cause.

Griffeen Valley Park Run Launch Juvenile Run

Griffeen Valley Park Run held its first juvenile run this weekend. The sun shone for the occasion which saw hundreds of children take on a 2k track around the park. The run was supported by local Councillors Vicki Casserly, Emer Higgins and Liona O’Toole. “It was great to see so many families out soaking up the sunshine at the first ever juvenile Griffeen Valley Park Run. The Park Run’s are a fantastic, volunteer-led, initiative that help promote wellness, fitness and provide a social outlet for local residents. Lucan District Credit Union this year celebrates its 50th year. To mark the occasion the Credit Union held a prestigious black-tie event in the Spa Hotel.
