LUCAN & PALMERSTOWN

Emer lives in Lucan village and works closely with Councillors Vicki Casserly and William Lavelle on key strategic issues in Lucan and Palmerstown. A commuter herself, traffic in Lucan is a key issue for Emer, and as Chair of the Council's Landuse, Transport and Planning Strategic Policy Committee it's something she continues to raise. Emer was co-opted to the Council in 2011 to fill Derek Keating's seat when he was elected to Dáil Éireann.

Today, as Leader of Fine Gael on South Dublin County Council she played an important role in shaping the Clonburris Strategic Development Zone and secured conditions to ensure that no cul de sacs in Lucan would be opened up without full consultation and Council improvement.

Emer is a long-time supporter of the Lucan Parade, Dancity Ireland and has collaborated with Palmerstown Community Council to get the boxing club, the Palmerstown Youth and Community Centre and other key resources that have enhanced the community of Palmerstown.

Emer campaigned with Cllr. William Lavelle to increase the free parking in Lucan from 10 minutes to 30 minutes and collaborates with Cllr. Vicki Casslery to support inclusion measures that make Lucan village more accessible to everyone.

An advocate of rights for older people she recently held a legal information session for older people across Lucan and Palmerstown. A business woman who has herself benefited from career coaching, she recently hosted a career clinic in the area offering free advice from a career transition coach, employment rights specialist and upskill trainer.
