Proud to represent Fine Gael in
Dublin Mid West
Hi, I'm Emer Higgins and welcome to my page. As a dedicated politician, I am deeply passionate about advocating for the needs of our local communities in Lucan, Palmerstown, Clondalkin, Rathcoole, Newcastle, Saggart, Brittas and Citywest.
My commitment is rooted in a firm belief that these communities deserve strong representation that listens to their concerns, addresses their challenges, and works hard to improve their quality of life.
As the Fine Gael TD for Dublin Mid West, a position I was voted into in the 2020 General Election, I bring a wealth of experience and dedication to the table. Prior to my current role, I served as a County Councillor for almost a decade, and I had the privilege of leading Fine Gael in South Dublin. These experiences have given me invaluable insight into the needs and aspirations of our communities.
It is my mission to ensure that their voices are heard, their issues are prioritised, and that we work together to create sustainable solutions that benefit all.
With my diverse experience across both the public and corporate sectors, I bring a significant amount of expertise to our communities.
I have extensive experience in supporting the needs of individuals, families, as well as small businesses.
My background has equipped me with a unique perspective and a deep understanding of the various challenges they face.
This allows me to effectively advocate for policies and initiatives that promote their well-being, drive economic growth, and ensure a supportive environment for everyone.
My goal is to leverage my knowledge and experience to make a tangible difference in the lives of the people I serve.
As the Fine Gael Spokesperson on Equality, I am deeply committed to enhancing gender equality and promoting diversity in leadership roles.
In 2021, I introduced a Private Members Bill, which aims to ensure Irish companies achieve significant gender balance on their boards, fostering a more inclusive business environment.
I am passionate about community development and supporting local businesses, recognising health, wellness, and innovation as crucial for enhancing community life.
Furthermore, I am a strong advocate for women in education and business, having initiated the Women in Business Network with the Local Enterprise Office to aid women entrepreneurs.
My work across various Oireachtas Committees, including Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Disability Matters, Public Petitions, and Assisted Dying, reflects my wide-ranging commitment to societal improvement and equality.
